Fraud Prevention Data Analytics Consultant

Opportunity

MassMutual Fraud Operations plays a critical role in protecting MassMutual and its customers from fraud and financial crimes.  The Fraud Prevention Data Analytics Consultant is a leading member of the Fraud Operations Team and possesses a hybrid of business acumen, technical skills, and customer centricity to support new and emerging opportunities in Fraud Prevention.  You’ll be responsible for understanding business processes, identify fraud risk and exposure. You’ll gather data, perform analytics leveraging existing tools and provide insights to product owners, leaders, and others within the organization. 

The position reports to Director of Fraud Prevention for Digital and New Business channels and works cross-functionally with other Business Teams across the enterprise.

MassMutual’s Digital and New Business Fraud Team protects MassMutual and its customers from the ever-evolving threat of fraud through the thoughtful use of technology, analytics, and continuous improvement to enable the business and support MassMutual's goal of driving customer-centric digital adoption. 

Impact

As the Fraud Prevention Data Analytics Consultant, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Fraud Consultation

Providing consultation to internal customers and business partners; Be a trusted consultant to work collaboratively with the business to quantify fraud risk and exposureMonitor, test and evaluate the effectiveness of business processes and controls that are in place to prevent fraudProactively partner with Fraud Operations peers to identify opportunities for business improvementBuild cross functional collaboration to enhance enterprise fraud prevention and detection capabilities Consolidate data to show continuous improvement, efficiencies gained, and risks averted through fraud prevention effortsWork across all stakeholder teams to track implementation status, identify risks and issues for escalation and determine readiness for implementation Continuously use insights gained from analysis to understand emerging trends and enhance fraud prevention mechanismsTranslate complex business questions into problems that can be solved through data

Fraud Analytics

Provide research and analytical support for Fraud Operations to drive action and decision makingLeverage analytics to monitor high risk transactions, red flag combinations, and/or suspicious activity related to suspected fraudulent situations to include financial disbursements, insurance claims underwriting or other sensitive mattersAnalyze retrospective data for patterns of activity that raise suspicionPerform timely ad hoc analyses, as needed, at the request of leadershipUtilize industry best practices to visualize data in a way that allows quick and easy insight; Communicate data in a storytelling format, engaging your audience and imploring them to act

Fraud Reporting

Establishing reporting cadence to leadership and key stakeholders on the results of fraud prevention and detection initiativesHelp to develop and drive reporting capabilities, focused on demonstrating the effectiveness and success of key fraud and control efforts (KPIs, KRIs, etc.) on a regular and ad-hoc basis.Define reporting standards (KPI) and processes to meet varying stakeholder needs in an easy to understand format.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or H.S. diploma with 7+ years of experience in data analytics in lieu of a degree5+ years in communicating data to leaders3+ years of experience using Excel3+ years of experience utilizing BI tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI

Ideal Qualifications:

5+ years experience applying statistics principles to business data to generate insight2+ years of experience in fraudAbility to deliver complex analysis in a digestible and actionable formatStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a track record for solving complex problems using techniques such as data mining, exploratory data analysis and predictive statistical modellingStrong leadership competencies with the ability to communicate at a cross-functional level, think strategically and influence decision-making of key stakeholders
