JOB DESCRIPTION

FoxNews.com is looking for an experienced US News Reporter to join our team. You love breaking news and thrive in a fast-paced environment.  You have 2+ years of breaking news reporting experience and possess knowledge of the issues and stories that resonate with the Fox News audience. You’re building a rolodex of networks across America from police to politics to culture.  You are skilled at delivering several stories accurately on a daily basis, mainly covering breaking news along with news of the day/trending news. You will have the opportunity to do original and exclusive reporting.

 

You will be offered one of the following shifts:

8:00 AM ET - 4:00 PM ET or 11:00 AM ET - 7:00 PM ET Monday-Friday

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Cover breaking news events, writing quickly and precisely to help solidify Fox News as the go-to site for breaking news

Pitch and cover stories that resonate with FoxNews.com’s audience, aggregating with complete and proper attribution

Pursue original and exclusive stories through close contact with source

Present all stories, original, breaking, and aggregated, in an accessible, consistent, and compelling style

Collaborate closely with editors and fellow writers/reporters

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

2+ years of breaking news reporting experienc

Ability to work holidays, extra days, longer hours and possess an “on-call” mentality

Be prepared to work in emergency and/or breaking news conditions

Ability to travel domestically and internationally in breaking news

Ability to deliver accurate copy under pressure in deadline-driven environment

Firm grasp of current events and of events, stories of high interest to Fox News 

Firm grasp of  SEO story production and content development

PhotoShop and knowledge of video (iPhone) editing skills preferred

Minimum of two years of newsroom experience

Knowledge of AP style

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $40.00-46.63 per hour. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
