JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Sports Digital is looking for a Freelance Editor/Writer to join our editorial team. You will need to love breaking news and trending topics, possess strong sports knowledge, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Freelance Editor/Writer needs to be versatile, and able to assign, write, and edit several stories cleanly and efficiently on a daily basis. Additionally, you will need to have strong news judgment while also understanding the sports, teams, and stars that matter most to the FOX Sports audience.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Covering breaking news events, writing quickly and accurately on a tight deadlineWriting and editing live blogs across multiple sports, including the NFL, college football, MLB, and soccerWriting stories around FOX and FS1 shows, podcasts, and other digital showsIdentifying, pitching, and writing stories around trending topics, both quick-turn and long-formRunning the news desk and editing storiesCollaborating closely with fellow editors and writers, as well as members of social, programming, video, podcast, and FS1 teams

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

3+ years of experience covering sports in a newsroom environmentPassion about and knowledge of sports across verticalsStrong interest and knowledge of FOX Sports properties, shows, and on-air talentProficiency of AP style, and a clear and crisp writing styleAbility to work quickly and cleanly under the pressure of a deadline-driven environmentCapability to be flexible and work some nights, weekends and holidays as needed

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field of study, or equivalent experience

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $22.36-31.25 per hour. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
