Freight Planner
Description A growing commercial equipment wholesale company in Bergen County, NJ, is seeking a Freight Planner to oversee and optimize freight shipping operations. This role requires experience with common carriers, FTL (Full Truckload), and LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipping, particularly within an e-commerce environment. The ideal candidate will have strong logistics expertise, the ability to manage freight costs, and experience handling damage claims, inventory coordination, and warehouse operations. Key Responsibilities: · Plan, coordinate, and optimize freight shipments using common carriers, FTL, and LTL solutions. · Work closely with warehouse personnel to ensure seamless order fulfillment, inventory management, and picking processes. · Analyze and manage freight costs, negotiating rates with carriers to optimize shipping expenses. · Monitor freight performance, damages, and claims, ensuring timely resolution and reimbursement. · Coordinate with e-commerce teams to handle shipping logistics for online orders, addressing unique challenges in e-commerce delivery. · Track and maintain accurate records of shipments, invoices, and claims. · Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and company policies. · Identify opportunities for process improvements in freight operations and warehouse integration. · Qualifications: · Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years in freight planning, logistics, or transportation, with a strong understanding of FTL, LTL, and common carriers. · Industry Knowledge: Must have e-commerce logistics experience, understanding the unique challenges of online order fulfillment and shipping. Requirements Skills: · Strong negotiation skills for carrier contracts and cost management. · Ability to analyze freight costs and implement cost-saving measures. · Familiarity with warehouse operations, inventory management, and order picking. · Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to work with vendors, warehouse staff, and customers. · Experience handling freight damage claims and ensuring proper resolution. · Preferred: Proficiency in freight management software and experience with ERP/WMS systems.
