Position SummaryThe Patient Services Specialists (front desk associate) position allows you to provide a welcoming environment to both our patients and physicians. This position also provides an opportunity to grow into other roles such as Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe or Surgery Coordinator. Our patient services staff report high levels of satisfaction with their roles at Central Florida Eye Specialists because they get to play a vital role in building relationships with our patients and creating a memorable experience for them. Though the days may be long and busy, we find the results to be well worth the effort.
Our patient services specialists (front desk associates) greet and check in patients, verifying demographic information, obtaining signatures on patient consents, capturing insurance cards, verifying authorization accuracy, collect co-pays and past due balances, working reschedule and recall lists, and balance end of day deposits. This is a great position for someone who has customer service experience, regardless of industry. We will train the right candidate.
ResponsibilitiesPosition Responsibilities:
Make outbound callsObtain demographic information, including insurance and running for verificationSchedule appointments according to our company protocolsObtain copies of driver’s licenses and insurance cardsExplain consent forms and obtain patient signaturesTest and measure eye muscle functionCollect co-pays, past due balances, and set-up payment plans as necessaryProcess incoming faxes, scan documents into patient charts, and send for medical reviewCall patient referrals dailySend office notes/scheduling updates to referring physiciansCheck out patients and schedule follow up appointments appropriatelyHelp clinical team coordinate outbound referralsBalance cash drawer dailyPrepare nightly depositWork reschedule and recall listCommunicate frequently with clinical/optical teamsProperly enter medical codes using ICD-10 systemOther duties as assignedPerformed other duties as assigned:

Medical work experience NOT required, but it can increase your starting rate Demonstrated effectiveness showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamworkStrong interpersonal skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution, warm demeanor)Able to work long and irregular hours, and travel to different locations based on clinic needsAbility to master ophthalmology terminologyRequired to have reliable transportation between local clinics during the workday (mileage is reimbursed)High School GraduateDesired Qualifications:
Experience in a busy health care facility, optometry, ophthalmology and/or retina clinicCPSS CertificationBilingual in SpanishPhysical Demands:
