Must maintain proper control of cash, ensure customer satisfaction, and safeguard company assets. They are required to assist customers as needed and maintain a friendly, energetic demeanor. This position requires adhering to all procedural guidelines set by the Front End Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensures customers receive outstanding service through the checkout lanes.Greets customers entering store and responds promptly to customer needs.Assists in overseeing the accurate and efficient operation of all cash registers.Computes bill, itemized lists, and tickets showing amount due.Receives payment by cash, check, credit cards, gift cards, or automatic debits.Operates cash register by passing price coded items across electronic scanner to record price, enter PLU or UPC manually, compile printed list, and display cost of customer purchase, tax, and rebates on monitor screen.Maintains clean and orderly checkout areas and make sure no personnel items are in the area.Issues coupons and rain checks.Oversees and authorizes customer returns, exchanges, merchandise credits, check authorization, rain checks, and case discounts.Assures completion of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and the proper control of all cash at the registers.Counts money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change. Also counts money at end of shift.Assists in training of new cashiers and cross training of other staff; including all policies and procedures of the Front End department and loss prevention efforts.Prepares daily deposits, change, and media.Prepares end of day paperwork and complete nightly computer duties.Administers lane accountability, quick counts, sweeps, breaks, and daily scheduling of all Cashiers and communicates performance issues and accomplishments to management.Monitors that cashiers are properly verifying age of any customer buying alcohol in eligible states; this requires cashiers to have completed and received their TAM (Techniques of Alcohol Management certification card.Provides orderly maintenance of front-end supplies and replenishes merchandise as needed.Communicates the need to open lanes as volume dictates.Ensures the override cards and passwords given to Lead are always kept secure and not shared.Other duties as assigned.Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalency degree.
· Must have a minimum of 2 years professional experience.
· Preferred 2-3 years grocery retail experience in Front End department processes and procedures.
· Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Must maintain the highest level of customer service at all times.
· Ability to adapt to the ever changing high volume retail while working in a cross-functional team environment.
· Must have the capacity to take initiative when problems arise.
· Flexibility to adapt in a variety of situations.
· Must have advanced attention to detail with the capability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
· Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
· Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills for dealing cross functionally with peers and senior management.
· Must have knowledge with MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
· Ability to multitask and have excellent organizational skills is essential.
· Must be able to support and contribute to team goals.
· Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
· Must have advanced knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
· Demonstrate ability to use a Point of Sale System (POS).
