Job Title: Front Office Medical Assistant
Reports to: Clinic Manager
Location: Plano, TX
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled, compassionate, and motivated Front Office Medical Assistant to join our oncology team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical assisting, excellent communication skills, and a high level of professionalism. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service, ensuring seamless clinic operations, and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients, families, and visitors in a warm and professional manner, ensuring a positive experience
- Manage front office operations, including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and responding to patient inquiries
- Perform medical assisting duties, such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and assisting with procedures
- Update patient records, scan documents, and maintain accurate and confidential files
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, nurses, and other staff members to ensure efficient and effective patient care
- Provide emotional support and compassion to patients and families, demonstrating empathy and understanding
- Manage billing and insurance-related tasks, including:
- Submitting claims and resolving billing discrepancies
- Obtaining prior authorizations for treatments and medications
- Managing patient expirations, including insurance, authorizations, and medications
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient satisfaction, safety, and outcomes
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a medical assistant, preferably in an oncology or specialty clinic setting
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care, with a strong focus on patient satisfaction and experience
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs) and practice management systems
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a busy oncology clinic setting, with frequent interaction with patients, families, and healthcare staff
- May be exposed to confidential patient information, infectious diseases, and hazardous materials
- Requires prolonged standing, walking, and sitting, with occasional lifting and bending

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
