The School of Music - Frost Preparatory has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Frost Prep Music Teacher to work in Coral Gables, FL.
The Frost Preparatory Program is a pre-college music program for children ages 0-18. We offer group and private lesson instruction on various instruments, as well as theory and other ensembles. The Program is hiring qualified instructors for small teaching positions averaging 5 hours per week (subject to enrollment).
Instructors will plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities and/or private lessons, prepare lessons and materials before class (including repertoire selection, classroom activities, etc.), communicate with parents and colleagues, attend performances of their students, and help students to prepare for outside competitions and events. Instructors will communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Instructors will be expected to attend all Preparatory Program end of semester recitals in which they have students performing, as well as periodic staff meetings. Instructors will be expected to arrive 10-15 minutes before their class begins in order to prepare and set up materials, and be ready for students to arrive and to begin lessons on time. Instructors will be expected to attend an Open House (approximately 1 hour, via Zoom in August 2021) to prepare for the new academic year.
Requirements:
Qualified candidates possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in music, good people skills, a minimum of 1 year teaching experience, and a desire to work with young musicians. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered. They must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with other department staff, colleagues, students, and families, and maintain clear communication with such.
