Fuel Buyer III Location: White Plains, US **Summary** Provides comprehensive services that support NYPA’s underlying mission of delivering clean, reliable power to its customers. This includes the complete energy value chain of forecasting needs, trading, origination, and energy management. Includes supporting technical analysis, compliance, and billing and settlement activities. Provides optimal business power allocation recommendations. Manages and operates the forecasting function which uses state-of-the-art methodologies for load forecasting challenges. Performs functions and activities related to energy trading and marketing. Provides reliable and cost competitive fuel supplies for natural gas and ultra-low sulfur diesel to meet load requirements at NYPA’s power plants. Support NYPA’s underlying mission of delivering clean, reliable power to its customers. This includes the entire fuel value/supply chain of forecasting and analyzing fundamental supply and demand requirements, fuel purchasing and logistics management. Includes supporting technical/data/tariff analysis, compliance, and billing and settlement activities. **Responsibilities** + Purchase gas at the NY City-gate and production areas for NYPA’s fossil fueled generation units both daily and during on-call schedule (nights + weekends + holidays). + Schedule and confirm natural gas for NYPA’s fossil fueled generation units daily and during “24/7” rotations. + Effectively communicate to generation desk real-time info of gas prices and supply. + Review gas purchases, sales, and transfers daily to ensure accuracy. + Provide operational, technical, analytical, and commercial support for natural gas, liquid fuel & energy related contracts. + Analyze contract terms and conditions, brief various business units, and coordinate the contract approval process which may include preparation of trustee items. + Perform studies and analytical assignments that require financial, regulatory, and technical knowledge. + Recommend fuel procurement strategies utilizing the competitive bidding process. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Knowledge of the natural gas, energy, and oil markets. + Knowledge of fuel procurement and competitive bidding process. + Knowledge of NYPA’s fossil fueled plants, its potential energy output, maximum daily quantity of gas consumption, and its contribution to energy margins. + Understanding of power plant operations and dispatch, including familiarity with the NYISO market. + The ability to work independently with minimal level of supervision/oversight, particularly in the accounting, invoicing and analytical areas. + The ability to resolve moderately complex problems having multiple solutions and to make decisions within scope of authority. + Talent in customer service. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + The ability to use fully integrated data base systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel software, Tableau, VBA, etc. + Thorough, accurate, and attentive-to-detail. + Administratively strong. + Multi-tasking ability required. + Ability to read/comprehend contracts. + Negotiation and coordination skills, with ability to influence others by building and managing relationships. **Education, Experience and Certifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline is required. + Minimum of 4 years of fuel buying and/or scheduling experience or untility experience is required. **Physical Requirements** Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer and telephone. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
