In this role, you will play a key part in developing and maintaining high-quality applications using a variety of technologies, including Smalltalk, Java, JavaScript, and incorporating AI/ML principles. You will be responsible for writing secure, performant, and maintainable code that meets the highest standards of quality. **Primary Responsibilities** * Design, develop, and support secure and scalable software solutions using Smalltalk, Java and related technologies * Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from planning and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance * Work closely with the product management team to understand customer requirements and translate them into technical specifications * Work directly with customers to manage service calls, document interactions, and escalate issues as needed * Contribute to the development of technical documentation, user guides, and training materials * Continuously learn and adapt by staying informed about software engineering best practices, emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies relevant to our business **Requirements** **Minimum** * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience * 3+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack Developer * Proven track record of developing and maintaining large-scale software applications * Must be able to successfully complete a clean background check * Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment * Strong understanding of software development life cycles, agile methodologies, and remote collaboration tools * Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming (emphasis on Smalltalk and Java) * Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js) * Experience with relational databases (including DB2 and MS SQL Server) * Strong and effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders * Must possess a strong customer service focus, and be able to effectively interact and support clients via video calls * Be willing to participate in an on-call rotation to provide support for production systems * Must reside within and be legally authorized to work in the United States due to compliance and operational requirements **Preferred Skills** * Experience with the VAST Platform (VA Smalltalk) preferred * Experience with modern AI/ML concepts and frameworks * Familiarity with other programming languages and technologies (e.g., Python, Rust, C#, C/C++, Go) * Experience with middleware, API development, analytics, and log aggregation (IBM MQ, MQTT, RESTful, SOAP) * Experience working in the software industry, particularly in areas relevant to Instantiations' customer base (finance, insurance, healthcare, etc.) * Previous experience working fully remote **Why you would want to join our team at Instantiations ** Our fully remote team of dedicated professionals enjoy various benefits to help promote work-life balance, including: * Flexible Vacation (employees are encouraged to take at least three weeks per year) * Paid Sick Leave * Paid Family Leave * 15 Paid Holidays * Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage Eligible on Date of Hire * Group Life Insurance * Short and Long-Term Disability * 401(k) Plan * Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Compensation will be based on multiple factors including, geography, experience, skills, and job duties.
