St. Mary Mercy has received numerous awards recognizing excellence in clinical outcomes, patient safety, financial performance and efficiency. **GENERAL SUMMARY:** The Chaplain I is responsible for the pastoral care of patients, their visitors, and staff on an “as needed” basis. Responds to the spiritual needs of patients and/or their families in crisis or grief situations. Provides and coordinates patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs of patients. Demonstrates competencies unique to pastoral/spiritual care of patients. **REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE** A.Education + At least a Bachelor's in Theology / Religious Studies; Preferred: Masters in Theology / Pastoral Ministry Training and Experience + Completion of at least two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) – supervised chaplaincy training. + Minimum of two (2) years of spiritual care in a parish or hospital setting. **DEMANDS** A.Physical + Considerable walking and standing. + Reasonable good health. + Speaking and hearing required to counsel and advise.
