Full-Time M/S Special Education Teacher Position!

A Special Education Teacher for Moderate/Severe Disabilities typically has a range of responsibilities and duties. This role is crucial in supporting the educational and developmental needs of students with significant disabilities, ensuring they receive the appropriate resources and instruction to thrive. Here are some key aspects of the role:
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Instruction and Assessment: Provide tailored instruction and assessment for students with disabilities such as autism, deaf-blindness, moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, and emotional disturbances.
+ Program Planning: Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for eligible students, setting specific goals and objectives.
+ Behavior Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate student progress and behavior, preparing progress reports and report card grades as needed.
+ Resource Provision: Research, obtain, and provide instructional materials and resources for special education services.
+ Collaboration: Serve as an informational resource for students, parents, district personnel, and community organizations. Participate in team meetings and implement team recommendations.
+ Classroom Management: Work within a pull-out Learning Center environment or a self-contained classroom, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
+ Record Keeping: Prepare and maintain various records and reports related to student progress and behavior.
+ Training and Guidance: Train and provide direction to assigned personnel, and conduct in-service training for parents or staff.
+ Equipment Operation: Operate various office and classroom equipment, including computers and specialized software.
+ Student Assistance: Assist students with toileting and hygiene needs if necessary.
Qualifications:
+ Credentials: Typically requires an Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Moderate/Severe Disabilities or an equivalent credential.
+ Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of instructional practices, assessment, and program planning for students with moderate to severe disabilities. Proficiency in basic subjects such as mathematics, reading, writing, and language arts.

+ Location: Saugus USD - Elementary school
+ Caseload: K-6th grade
+ Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm with 30 minute unpaid lunch break
+ Start/end date: ASAP - June 13, 2025
