Full-time Speech Language Pathologist Position!
A School Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP ) plays a crucial role in supporting students’ communication needs. SLPs help students overcome communication barriers, which can significantly enhance their academic performance and social interactions. Here’s a detailed overview of their responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: + Assessment and Diagnosis: Evaluate students for speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Use standardized tests and observational methods to diagnose issues. + Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each student’s needs. Set specific, measurable goals for therapy. + Direct Therapy: Provide one-on-one or group therapy sessions. Use evidence-based techniques to improve speech, language, and swallowing skills. + Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff. Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to discuss student progress and adjust plans as needed. + Documentation: Maintain detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress. Ensure compliance with school policies and legal requirements. + Education and Training: Educate teachers and parents about speech and language development. Provide training on how to support students in the classroom. + Support and Counseling: Offer counseling to students and families to address communication challenges. Support students’ social and emotional development. Skills and Qualifications: + Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. + Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
