Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty: Exercise and Health Science
Overview: The Department of Health and Exercise Science at Quinnipiac University (QU) invites applications for two 9.5-month, in-person, tenure-track faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, in the areas of Exercise Science, Health Equity and Community-based Health, for the new Exercise Science undergraduate major. We are looking for experienced Exercise Scientists, with teaching and clinical expertise in Exercise Physiology, Strength and Conditioning, or Public Health, who also have an interest or expertise in health promotion, health equity, underrepresented populations, and/or community-based health promotion. We are looking for educators who will be integral in helping grow our program, and further help develop a curriculum that emphasizes the roles of physical activity, nutrition, social and behavioral health, including mindfulness, in disease prevention and treatment.  The expected start date for both positions is August 2025. The successful candidates will: + aid our pursuit of organizing a shared learning community and lead the education of students in the challenges of understanding exercise, health & wellness, population health, health equity, and public health; + be integral to help grow the new Exercise Science undergraduate program, create courses and further develop the existing curriculum. + aid in developing and building a strong culture of health and wellness among faculty, students, and staff.     + foster a student-centered environment by delivering engaging and innovative coursework; being accessible, approachable, and relatable to students; + display passion, energy, and excitement for the health and exercise sciences and our students.  + be innovative educators who can excel in the traditional classroom and laboratory settings, with occasional hybrid or online modalities at the undergraduate level when needed. + initiate independent research agendas consistent with QU, SHS, and departmental goals. The teaching and research areas of expertise of the prospective hires will both complement our existing faculty interests while being able to add breadth and depth to our program.   + work across the university to lead and participate in interdisciplinary collaboration that engage and educate students who plan to provide direct patient/client care as well as those students who wish to work in healthcare, health or wellness settings, or public health in ancillary ways.     We are a highly collaborative and supportive academic community that is committed to a high-quality educational experience and advancing diversity and inclusive excellence in all areas. Responsibilities: +   Teach classes assigned by department chair and/or program director. + Support curriculum development and evaluation.   + Serve as an academic faculty advisor and mentor to students.   + Participate in faculty development opportunities.   + Participate in professional activities outside and within the SHS to maximize student learning, faculty scholarship, and programmatic effectiveness.   + Participate in student recruitment efforts.   + Pursue and disseminate independent scholarship, consistent with departmental guidelines. + Support the School of Health Science and University’s vision, mission, core values and work to implement our strategic plans. + Provide service to the Department, SHS, QU, and the community.   + Actively participate in the School of Health Science community. Education Requirements: + Required: + Earned Ph.D., Ed.D. or equivalent research doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Nutrition/Dietetics, Public Health, Population Health, Health Equity, Exercise Science or another closely related field by the time of appointment from a regionally accredited higher education institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.   + For the Associate Professor rank, candidates must also have multiple years of full-time teaching experience at the undergraduate level at an accredited 4-year college/university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and a track-record of successful scholarly activities. + Preferred: + Candidates with an earned master’s degree in a complementary area of exercise science or public health, different from your doctoral area of study, are encouraged to apply.   Qualifications: Required: + Evidence of strong teaching skills and the use of instructional technology. + Independent teaching experience in the related academic area of these positions at the undergraduate level. + Evidence of ability to establish a scholarly agenda (e.g., scholarship of application, discovery, integration, or teaching) through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or ongoing scholarly endeavors.   + Professional working experience in the related field of these positions. + Commitment to community engagement and professional advocacy through teaching, service, and scholarship.   Preferred: + Experience in community-based health initiatives. + Post-doctoral research experience in a related field.
