Short Description:

 

FA is the functional expert for an application, a defined set of applications or a portfolio of related applications.  FA is also responsible for bringing an understanding of the enterprise, business system and industry to the team(s).

 

Complete Description:

 

The Functional Architect will be responsible for bringing in an understanding of the Office of General Counsel Case Management business system and how that process applies to the new MMS.  BADS currently has a team lead and PM who have that understanding, but these comprehensions need to be documented.  The primary responsibility of the Functional Architect will be to provide expertise in the business process supported by the MMS.  The Functional Architect is to understand all aspects of the MMS and the underlying business process. This resource will work with the Technical Writer described above to create System Functional Specifications.

 

With these specifications then being understood, this Functional Architect is to meet with a second client, the Department of Education (PDE), reviewing their Case Management needs.  There is currently an outdated Requirements document, which will need to be vetted and updated.  Finally, with the understanding of what is available from the current MMS and the needs for PDE, the Functional Architect is to develop a Gap Analysis for bringing PDE business needs into the current MMS application.  Again – all documentation is to be created in Microsoft Office tools.

 

Specifically for MMS – the tasks required for the Functional Architect:

 

• Analyze, determine, and document functional requirements.

• Conduct impact analyses of business requirements on the system.

• Communicate accurate and useful status updates.

• Follow quality standards.

• Provide detailed definition on how the applications will support business requirements.

• Provide expertise for defining functional architecture and infrastructure for applications.

• Plan and develop user interface strategy.

• Plan and develop user test scenarios.

• Interpret and understand user requirements.

• Provide detailed definition on how the applications will support business requirements.

• Work with Project Manager and Lead Technician to identify direction of software.

• Define user interface strategies.

Provide functional expertise to planning organization as required.

Organize and prepare work effectively to facilitate proactive resolution of problems.

Work with client and Lead Functional Architect to identify direction of software.
