Job Title: Functional Test Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Functional Test Engineer with experience in the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of diesel engine combustion, aftertreatment, transmission, and control systems. This is a hands-on role involving data logging, analyzing system configurations, and ensuring performance validation for engine systems of On-Highway trucks.

ResponsibilitiesCommunicate directions, submit work orders, and work within a Union environment.Log data and analyze system configuration, performance validation requirements for engine systems of On-Highway trucks.Troubleshoot system-level performance failures and conduct root cause failure analysis to prevent potential failures and identify areas for system performance improvement.Leverage data analysis tools, diagnostics, and calibration data using Vector Products (CANape).Generate performance graphs, histograms, identify data abnormalities, review validation results, write daily reports, and maintain technical documentation.Provide clear directions to achieve test objectives.Travel approximately 40% of the year for remote testing.Essential SkillsExperience in vehicle and engine testing.Knowledge of diesel engine and aftertreatment operation and emissions.Proficiency in engineering thermodynamics.Ability to work autonomously and self-driven.Proficiency in using Vector CANape, CANalyzer, INCA, and MATLAB.Experience in data logging and performance validation.Proficient with Microsoft Tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Automotive, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, or Controls Engineering.2+ years of experience in engine development.Experience with engine dynamometer testing in diesel, combustion, or battery.Strong report writing skills.Work Environment

This is an onsite position that requires travel for vehicle testing. Testing seasons occur for 6-18 weeks during both summer and winter, with an expectation of 40% travel. Employees may be on the road for two weeks and then back for two weeks. The position includes 400-800 hours of overtime per year during the testing season, paid at the normal hourly rate.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00
