We are seeking a talented individual to join our Fund Oversight team at Mercer Global Investment Europe and this role will be based in Dublin.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior candidate to join one of Mercer’s largest and most rapidly-growing business areas – investment solutions. Mercer's Investment Solutions (IS) business provides sophisticated implementation and investment services to clients. The business has grown rapidly over recent years with $400bn of client assets now under management globally, c.$180bn of which is invested on behalf of international investors. Our Investor base is institutional and typically clients are DB/DC Pension Schemes, but the business is expanding into new segments including Insurance & Wealth Management.
Services are provided across a range of areas through traditional and alternative asset classes reflecting Mercer’s best investment ideas. Mercer’s Portfolio Management Team in turn selects third party managers, from Mercers list of “A” rated managers in each asset class thus combining Mercer's in-house portfolio management expertise with the depth and breadth of Mercer Investment’s global investment manager research.
Mercer’s fund range was launched in Europe in September 2006 and currently consists of c.140 Irish domiciled funds across 5 legal structures. In addition to the ability to provide bespoke solutions to large, sophisticated clients these funds provide building blocks to support Mercer’s wider range of investment and risk management solutions targeting the institutional marketplace. Mercer IS business has seen significant growth over the last few years and believes that demand for its investment solutions will continue to grow over the coming years.
The Operations Unit is responsible for the on-boarding of new clients into the funds, launching of new funds, client and fund rebalancing, management of underlying investment manager changes, NAV and Valuation oversight, regulatory & tax oversight, management of third-party service providers, operational infrastructure changes, development, and maintenance of relationships with both internal and external clients and adherence to strict risk controls.
We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Fund Oversight Senior Specialist to join our growing team within the Operations Unit at Mercer. As a Fund Oversight Senior Specialist, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations and valuation of the Mercer portfolio range, managing key service providers, and ensuring compliance with investment managers. This is a highly visible senior role requiring collaboration with a broad set of stakeholders internally and externally, including investment and commercial teams, Legal, Compliance, Portfolio Managers and operational teams.
This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
We will count on you to:.
Assist the Team Manager with key management tasks and oversee daily team operations.Collaborate with external stakeholders, including administrators and custodians of Mercer-managed portfolios.Monitor and supervise delegate administrators, custodians, and investment managers, managing the service provider framework to ensure compliance with SLA terms and improve service quality.Coordinate and support the due diligence process for investment managers, developing and reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Oversee the NAV monitoring process for delegate fund administrators, tracking daily, weekly, and monthly NAVs for Mercer Funds, and comparing expected fund performance with actual results from fund accounting teams.Maintain exception reports for cash breaks, position breaks, pricing, trade settlements, and fund flows, reviewing reconciliations among counterparties, custodians, and administrators, and coordinating investigations with outsourced service providers.Participate in the audit process, ensuring timely completion of fund audits and preparation of Mercer Funds Financial Statements, serving as the primary contact for fund auditors.Prepare and present materials for internal committees and Mercer Boards.Review and contribute to fund documentation, including supplements, prospectuses, client agreements, and investment management agreements.Assist in maintaining databases for portfolios and funds.Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders, collaborating with internal teams such as portfolio management, legal, compliance, operations, finance, and technology.Identify inefficiencies and risks, proposing and implementing solutions to support operational changes, risk management, and overall planning.Act as a senior peer reviewer for colleagues.Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of supporting procedures and assist in training team members as needed.What you need to have:
Strong and demonstrated experience in a leading Investment Manager or Fund Manager, with a strong understanding of Fund Operations, including Fund Accounting, Middle Office, and Transfer Agency.Practical knowledge of all asset classes, such as securities, loans, derivatives, and pooled funds.In-depth understanding of European fund structures, particularly UCITS and AIFs, as well as various portfolio types.Willingness to work with diverse systems and a strong ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.Detail-oriented with the capability to prioritise and manage multiple teams and deliverables effectively.Strong collaboration, task management, and communication skills.Driven and hardworking, with a focus on delivery.Exhibits energy, tenacity, and resilience.Strong academic background.What makes you stand out:
