MCPS Official Job Description
MCPS only considers those applicants who hold a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in education or in an academic content area.
Home and Hospital Teachers for all grades, all subjects, and all locations
Preferences will be given to applicants who have experience with students or a teacher preparation program. Please provide proof of attainment of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university by scanning the last page of your transcript (with degree conferral) and attaching it to your candidate profile.
Home and Hospital Teachers:
• Are temporary employees and are on an on call basis.
• Teach the number of hours weekly as assigned by the Home and Hospital Teaching Office.
• Maryland law requires home and hospital teaching to begin 10 days after verification of the need for service.
• Follow the MCPS curriculum to plan and teach structured, academic lessons to meet course objectives.
• Align course objective with those currently being taught by collaborating with the classroom teacher or resource teacher.
• Administer County Wide Semester Exams to all secondary students.
• Prepare students to successfully take HAS and MSA exams.
• Are responsible for monitoring confidentiality of student information.
Home and Hospital Teacher Rates: Hourly Rate of Pay $27.69; Certified Hourly Rate of Pay $28.96
In order to qualify for this higher rate of pay, you must submit a copy of your valid Maryland teaching certificate.
