SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the school principal, in alignment with priorities from the Department of English Learners and Multilingual Education, provides professional learning to build the capacity of general education staff to support the language and academic content needs of Emergent Multilingual Learner (EML) students, students whose parents have refused ELD services, and reclassified English language learners (ELL) who exited the ELD program within the past two years.

CERTIFICATE LICENSE:
Must hold Maryland teacher certification in ESOL/ELD.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques. Experience analyzing Annual Measureable Achievement Objective (AMAO) data and other student performance data, providing effective English language development instruction, and using the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) English language development resources required. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff and school-based administrators and experience formulating instructional strategies to meet student needs required. Fluency in English and another language preferred. Ability to understand and support students in the process of adjustment to the academic and cultural environment in MCPS. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
