KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of the basic principles of occupational therapy and of human behavior norms, abnormalities and deficits; the application of occupational therapy principles and practices as these apply to handicapped children, laws and bylaws covering the education of handicapped children and the education system of the state.Ability to treat children and relate the program to that of other services providers with inthe educational setting and the home.Skill in oral and written communication. Excellent human relations skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by successful completion of a course in occupational therapy accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.Additional instruction in sensory integration. P.L. 94142, Maryland Bylaw 130401, and the role of the occupational therapist in the public school is recommended.Experience working in a pediatric facility is desirable.
