The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum is a new 48,000 square-foot state-of-the-art museum, located in downtown Palm Springs, California and includes a large gallery for the story of the Agua Caliente people, a changing gallery to share exhibitions about Native peoples of the United States, a 1,000 square-foot store, education classroom, meetings rooms and an outdoor education garden.
Position Summary
Gallery Attendants will engage with museum visitors specific to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and the permanent exhibition dedicated to their history and culture. Gallery Attendants will facilitate a safe and informative exhibit experience by relaying museum policies to visitors, re-directing guests who are not following these museum policies, and help maintain a clean, positive environment with proactive assistance. Gallery Attendants will be trained about facility issues and reaching out to the appropriate staff/departments when needed. This position will assist the museum team with opening and closing duties. Individuals should be comfortable informing and discussing a culture that may not be their own. A successful candidate will be able to work seamlessly with both a diverse Team and Visitors; along with ensuring that all engagement with visitors aligns with the Tribe’s direction and voice. This position reports to the Manager of Retail and Visitor Services.
