Garage Mechanic

Under direction, repairs, services, and performs major and minor repairs to Mountaire automobiles, trucks, farm equipment, tractors, forklifts and other power-driven equipment. This is the entry level class in the Fleet Mechanic series. This class is distinguished from the Diesel Mechanic by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the Diesel Mechanic level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or non-directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. 2nd shift

Duties/Activities Required by Job

Works under supervison, performs more routine task and duties; maintains on and off road equipment operations by completing inspections and preventative maintenance Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; contains costs by using warranty;evauluating service and parts options Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives;adjusting controls and systems. Receives OJT (on the job training) and updates job knowledge by participating in educational oppurtunities;reading technical and regulation publications Maintaining records of service in Fleet Maintenance system

Educations/Experience Requirements

Assoiciates Degree in electrical, mechanical, automotive engineering or a related field from an accredited institution 1-2 years Brake certification Refrigerant  recovery certification engine diagnostics
