The Oil and Gas Measurement Technician III is responsible for the accurate measurement and monitoring of oil and gas meters, flow rates and volumes in various industrial settings. They install, calibrate, and maintain oil and gas measurement equipment, such as flow meters and analyzers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. They troubleshoot and resolve measurement issues, perform routine inspections, and collect data for analysis. Additionally, Oil and Gas Measurement Technicians III may train and supervise junior technicians and collaborate with other teams to optimize oil and gas measurement processes. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of oil and gas measurement principles are essential for this role.
Perform installation, programming, commissioning and maintenance of oil and gas measurement equipment.\ Planning, scheduling and coordinating work efforts with other departments to ensure timely completion of measurement projects.\ Perform scheduled calibrations, inspections and troubleshooting of oil and gas measurement equipment. Perform basic Modbus programming in flow computers Install, program, troubleshoot and maintain related data communication devices. Operate and configure devices in host software such as Cygnet and FMS. Obtain both spot and composite gas samples, and transport hazardous/non-hazardous materials. Perform gas quality tests by use of stain tubes or other equipment as necessary. Coordinate and supervise contractors to ensure efficient and safe work performance. Witness custody transfer settlement tests and inspections to ensure Apache’s measurement interests are monitored and meet contractual, state and federal requirements. Maintain audit preparedness for area of responsibility with the ability to respond to and correct audit findings. Maintain system balances and must have the ability to identify/resolve oil and gas loss/measurement discrepancies. Maintain all oil and gas measurement related data and reports to satisfy contractual, state and federal requirements. Ensure implementation of measurement best practices and policies. Support the training of other employees and perform administrative duties in addition to technical tasks. Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate Degree or Technical Certification preferred. 5+ years of Oil and Gas Measurement experience or equivalent related industry experience. Must be proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and associated measurement software. Excellent communication and grammar skills exhibited both in conversation and written materials. General knowledge of oil and gas production operations and midstream processes. Working knowledge of the methods of measurement used for allocation and custody transfer points. Working knowledge of low voltage power systems and electronics, 12–24 VDC. Working knowledge of laboratory analysis results related to oil and gas sampling. Working knowledge of applicable RRC, OCD, BLM, UL, GLO, AGA, and API requirements and procedures.
