Job Summary
The Gas Operations Technician I position is an entry level position responsible for working with the Gas Operations Technician III level position on the operation, maintenance, and construction of Dominion Energy South Carolina’s natural gas system. This position supports Camden, Cheraw and Hartsville. Duties include but are not limited to:
Responding to pipeline damages, repairs and replacements to below-ground gas pipelines and fittings; Working in conditions where natural gas is present; Responding to customer calls/concerns & completing customer meter orders (blocking, unblocking, pulling meters for testing, painting meters, conducting zero use and high bill complaint investigations) Performing above ground leak repairs; Performing underground line locating; Conducting leak survey and atmospheric corrosion surveys Performing valve maintenance work; Conducting odorant checks.
In addition to working with Gas Operations Technician III, Gas Operations Technician I will go through the Gas Apprentice Training Program, a four-year program involving training courses and Operational Qualifications (OQ) which includes electronic testing and hands-on testing. Continuous advancement and OQ in the training program are required. The successful candidate should be driven towards graduating from the program and the Gas Operations Technician career.
The pay for this position is $49,920.
This position will start in April 2025. If you are hired for this position, you will be traveling to our Gas Training Center in Cayce, SC for the first three days of your employment.
