Job Description
The experienced boilermaker, with a minimum of 8 years of experience, is responsible for comprehending and utilizing blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical manuals, and work process instructions to install and repair boilers and other pressure vessels. This position reports directly to the supervisor as assigned.
ResponsibilitiesTest and inspect boiler systems for leaks or defects.Repair valves using hand and power tools.Use gas torches for welding and cutting.Clean boilers and boiler furnaces.Inspect assembled vessels and individual components such as tubes, fittings, valves, controls, and auxiliary mechanisms to locate defects.Install manholes, handholes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges, and feedwater connections in water tube boilers using hand tools.Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents.Install refractory brick in fireboxes.Use blueprints to determine locations, positions, or dimensions of parts.Read, interpret, and follow procedures, specifications, and drawings.Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to current or daily job duties.Be fit for a respirator.Climb stairs and ladders, up to 200 rungs/steps per hour.Access confined spaces.Comply with the highest level of safety during all stages of project execution.Walk to, from, and between assigned work areas throughout the scheduled shift.Endure noise, fumes, dust, and inclement weather.Work overtime as needed to meet production demands.Essential SkillsMinimum 8 years of experience as a boilermaker.Proficiency in reading blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical manuals.Experience in ship repair and marine environments.Mechanical and troubleshooting skills.Competence in reading and understanding specifications and drawings.Ability to use hand and power tools.Experience using gas torches.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in cleaning boilers and boiler furnaces.Ability to install refractory brick in fireboxes.Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.Ability to work in noisy, dusty, and varying temperature conditions.Willingness to work overtime as required.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment includes open-air conditions such as noise, hot, and cold, as well as office-controlled settings. Visits to projects aboard ships, rigs both on and offshore, and confined spaces may be required. Proper PPE including hearing, eye, and head protection must be worn as needed. Visits may involve standing on various surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members. Some travel is required.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00
