Your Role:

You will be a member of Global Markets Legal at a bulge bracket investment bank.  You will work with your colleagues to address a broad and diverse range of legal and regulatory questions and issues that arise in connection with the FCM business and associated business functions.   

In this role, you will be on the frontlines serving as a trusted advisor to the business and control-side colleagues and will have exposure to all aspects of a dynamic business.  You will also play an important role in helping the firm navigate the evolving regulatory landscape and market structures in futures and cleared derivatives.

Your Responsibilities:

Participate in the review, analysis and implementation of regulatory requirements applicable to the trading and clearing of futures and clearing of swaps, in each case in the U.S. and relevant non-U.S. markets, and engage in industry leading advocacy with respect to a broad range of related regulatory proposals Interact with business and control groups to help review, manage and determine approach for regulatory responses and communicationsProvide guidance and instruction with respect to legal rights and obligations, including regulatory implications of contractual terms, disclosures and communications, in connection with trading and account agreementsDevelop a deep understanding of the FCM business’s trading and operational practices to exercise sound judgment and provide informed advice on electronic trading, market access, margin, risk management, customer protection and other mattersIdentify and analyze legal and regulatory issues in connection with new business initiatives, and partner with stakeholders to mitigate and manage legal and regulatory risksCross-regional and cross-functional collaboration on matters pertaining to licensing, cross-border regulation and other jurisdictional matters affecting the FCM business

Qualifications and Attributes:

Strong sense of ownership and responsibility; thoughtful and detail-orientedSelf-starter; capable of building and leveraging an internal network of resources and supportStrong legal and business judgment, communication, writing and analytical skills5+ years of relevant experience working with or at a financial institution, including relevant experience at a law firm, is preferredKnowledge of the Commodity Exchange Act, CFTC regulations, NFA and SRO rules is strongly preferredJ.D. or comparable law degree from a competitive law school and licensed to practice law in at least one state

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $170000-$270000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
