EY GDS Strategy and Transactions – Executive Director: VME (Valuation, Modelling and Economics)

Strategy and Transactions (SaT) is our USD 6+ billion consulting business worldwide, focused to deliver client value services in the fields of Financial Due Diligence, Valuations, Modelling and Economics, Strategy and Operations, Restructuring and Turnaround, Lead Advisory services. 

Global Delivery Services is a global offshoring EY organization, with over 65,000 employees across 8 countries and provides professional services across Tax, Assurance & Audit, Consulting and SaT. 

 

As part of our EY VME team, you will help clients with their various valuation needs for both financial reporting, tax reporting and corporate finance/planning purposes. The VME group consists of several key areas of business, including business valuation, decision modelling, quantitative finance and economics, capital equipment and complex securities.

 

The Opportunity

We’re looking for Leaders with expertise in Corporate Finance Consulting with focus on valuations, financial modeling and capital allocation related advisory services to join EY-VME (Valuation, Modelling and Economics). Strategic planning decisions and transactions are critical moments for companies, and clients often rely on consulting firms for various corporate finance needs like business valuations, decision modeling and quantitative finance and economic strategy teams to enable them to take timely decisions. EY-VME team has growing rapidly to meet these challenging needs for the clients.

Specifically, you will be a part of the team that combines the skillsets in instrument valuation, intangibles valuation, financial modeling and economics strategy for for financial reporting, tax and regulatory compliance, transaction support and corporate strategy.

 

Your key responsibilities

Build, manage and lead teams on corporate finance, valuations and decision modeling related topics Manage multiple client engagement teams, taking a lead role in understanding clients’ needs, conducting analyses and reporting results Lead the people and practice development activities. Assist in capacity planning, competency mapping and recruitment of resources for the assigned teams. Lead teams in developing new solutions or services that can be pitched to clients as an add-on to the existing client relationships Build internal and external branding for the teams in terms of thought leadership, leading client pursuits and ensure quality client deliverables Challenge yourself to continually learn and teach, mentoring others while developing your own career Maintain and develop positive, productive, and professional relationships with clients and winning repeat business

 

Skills and attributes for success

Relevant experience in building and leading large professional services teams. Experience in leading corporate finance / valuation / modeling engagements including pricing and ensuring market competitiveness Experience in analyzing complex business situations from a capital allocation / diagnostics lens and providing state of the art solutions to clients Ability to cross collaborate within a specialized sector with cross functional teams to enhance client value Excellent analytical, project-management, communication, interpersonal, and teaming skills The ability to work within a given budget and schedule, providing top-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment PC proficiency including at least one Financial Engineering or statistical software package (e.g. Matlab or Stata), Bloomberg, MS Excel/VBA, Word, and PowerPoint Achievement of or significant progress towards a CFA, FRM, PRM or ASA/AM designation is a plus, with an expectation of the completion of one designation within a given timeframe

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

An advanced degree (masters or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline, with demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis, or equivalent experience A minimum of 18 years of relevant experience with a national valuation firm or accounting firm’s valuation practice, or in quantitative management or litigation consulting, investment banking, private equity/venture capital or commercial banking

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

An advanced degree (masters or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline, with demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis, building complex financial models, or equivalent experience Excellent analytical, project-management, communication, interpersonal, and teaming skills The ability to work within a given budget and schedule, providing top-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Should have developed / reviewed financial models in either Excel/VBA, R, Python, Matlab that were used as part of client delivery and not just for internal requirements The successful candidate must be committed to staying at the cutting edge of both, latest valuation techniques and the financial and accounting standards that guide the use of these techniques; such a candidate must be an expert with demonstrated ability to apply latest corporate finance techniques for solving client problems.
