GE Aerospace Research is looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join our Robotics and Autonomous System team as a Fellow Intern. You will work side by side with experts in the field on robotics and embodied AI research projects to solve real-world technical problems and challenges. As a PhD Fellow Intern, you will be challenged to apply your theoretical knowledge into practice and gain invaluable hands-on experience with cutting edge robotics and AI technologies that help shape the Future of Flight.
An **ideal candidate** should have
+ Strong background in robotics, machine learning, and/or deep learning.
+ Publication records at research conferences, such as ICRA, IROS, RSS, CoRL, CVPR, CASE, etc.
+ Experience in end-to-end vision-language-action models, reinforcement learning, real2sim/sim2real transfer, path planning and motion planning.
+ Proficiency in Python, experience with ROS, and familiar with implementing robotic programs for robot arms, such as FANUC, ABB, etc.
+ Ability to adapt to change and willingness to be flexible in a global team environment
This immersive internship program also offers mentorship and networking opportunities with industry experts, including but not limited to seminars on cross-center technologies and soft skills development.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Currently enrolled in a full-time PhD program at a U.S. university in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and related engineering majors, math or physics.
+ Minimum GPA 3.0 / 4.0 scale
+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
+ Willingness to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
**Desired Characteristics:**
+ Hands-on experience working with robotic arms and systems.
+ Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, initiative and organization; demonstrated ability working with a team
+ Strong problem solving skills thorough attention to detail
The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific weekly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. GE provides travel reimbursement and housing stipend for qualified interns.
_This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government._
