**Job Description** Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and direction of the maintenance team leader, mixes paint, erects scaffolding, operates high reach equipment and paints ceilings, walls, trim, furniture, equipment, etc Painters will perform maintenance on any equipment or facilities which their skills support in a compliant quality manner. Painters are part of the General I technician work group and will primarily share work assignments within their job grouping with no inherent or "system imposed" limits Based on business needs General Technicians will perform maintenance activities including crossing between job groupings where skills ate common. Work assignments, buildings, and equipment are not exclusive to any craft, job grouping, or employee. Position may include some responsibility for maintaining significant business systems (e.g. Maximo data, planning, procurement, and scheduling) including the authority to assign, coordinate, and maintain work for others. 1) Working from drawings, sketches, or other instructions. 2) Mixes paints and stains by hand and matches colors and stains by stirring together the proper preparations of pigment, base and thinner. 3) Elects scaffolding as required using general carpenter tools. 4) Removes paint with hand scraper or paint remover 5) Paints all types of surfaces, as directed, using brush, roller, spray gun or other equipment and all types of finishes such as: stain, paint, varnish, epoxies, etc. 6) In preparation for painting putty, caulks, spackles, cleans, sands, and perform other similar tasks on ell types of surfaces. 7) Refinishes desks, chairs, cabinets, etc., as directed. 8) Prepares surfaces and applies all types of block-filler materials, such as latex-cement (Arvon) or any other troweled mate1ials .. 9) Prepares walls for wall covering, by removing old wall covering, sanding, patching, sizing, etc Applies new wall coveting. 10) Lays out and lines parking lots, road lines, signs, etc .. 11) Applies waterproofing materials such as thoroseal, thorolastic and weather barrier as directed. 12) Cleans or degreases surfaces by power washing using water or cleaning chemicals.. . 13) Attend and actively participates in HAZOPS, waste walkthroughs, kaizen events, or any other operations, lean six-sigma, quality, safety or environmental training/initiatives as required .. 14) Prepares and assists technicians, supervisors and planners in preparing labor and material estimates. 15) Assists supervision with the assigning, scheduling and prioritization of work order requests using maintenance management systems .. 16) Makes recommendations and prepares orde1s for spare parts, additional stock room items, tools, etc. 17) Consults with Supervision and other mechanics on problem resolution/troubleshooting. Keeps Supervision informed of problem issues. Education Minimum: + High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED). + Graduation from a recognized painter trade school 01 completion of a formal painter apprentice program. **DESIRABLE:** Special course in related fields. **NECESSARY:** 5 yrs of recent full-time experience as a journeyman painter or the recent completion of 4 years of on-the-job training as part of a formal painter apprentice program. **DESIRABLE:** Extensive diversified industrial experience as a journeyman painter involving various kinds of maintenance painting including structural steel, offices, equipment, etc ..
