Role description:
This role exists to oversee the regulatory compliance of assigned country are met. Responsible to ensure that the underlying company policies and procedures comply with the various regulatory laws and standards including tax, corporate, bank and insurance requirements. Labor/employment regulations related to compensation rules will be handled separately by People Team except for tax on compensation and benefits. This role is the single point of contact for all accounting and compliance related activities for the country. The Regional Finance Team will maintain ownership of execution and implementation of the company policies e.g. Treasury and Accounts Payable related policies are coordinated with ICA to ensure compliance requirements are fulfilled.
Role accountabilities:
Reviews and evaluates company policies and procedures to identifyany potential risks/non-compliance issues and drives/recommends
necessary changes/improvements. Liaise with legal counsel to ensure compliance with any statutory
reporting obligations and procedures. Liaise with necessary government agencies and stakeholders as
required when lodging any statutory reporting documents. Review and analyze the preparation of the tax calculations/provisions,
reconciliations, and maintenance of tax balances in the books including
any financial reports that the bank (creditor) may require. For clarity,
preparation is done by the Regional Finance Tax Team via a Dedicated
support (who demonstrates some expertise per country i.e. at job level
5/6, depending on size and complexity of the country business and
rules. This Dedicated support is owned by the Regional Finance GA
Team to ensure consistency across GD. In addition, the ICA may also
utilize external tax consultant as prescribed by Group Monitor and track the Tax Returns and Compliance Reports prepared
by the Dedicated support to ensure its timely submission and report out
to management any issues, risks and exposures. Ensures adequate insurance coverage/protection of property against all
property risks Maintain updated with current changes in tax laws and other
regulations to ensure compliance and avoid penalties. Minimize tax liabilities through informed application of tax laws and
regulations. Perform spot checks to validate and review that processes are in place
to ensure transactions are executed as expected. Understand process flows of the business to make sure they
understand the tax, risk components and proactively influence business
process changes Project manage tax and financial audit engagement and liaise
requirements necessary to complete the audit. For clarity, the Regional
Finance Team maintains to support and prepare necessary schedules
and Country BU Controller to support on operational matters, as
necessary. Maintain updated Transfer Pricing documentation for every calendar
year Create Master Intercompany Service Agreement and other necessary
intercompany agreements between GEC IND and other affiliates Advise People – Service Payroll team on tax implications
of secondments from GEC IND to other countries / regions Advise Group Tax of local tax implications of policy changes offshore
(from affiliates) With support of the In Country Travel Coordinator, monitors incoming
visitors to the country and foreign work assignments including length of
stay to avoid creating a permanent establishment or personal tax
burden. Adhoc tasks as applicable to ensure that the country is compliant with
changing regulations
Qualifications & Experience:
Significant professional experience (15 years or more) in finance andpreferably with strong tax/compliance background. Experience of working in a medium/large organization in a senior role Good leadership and management skills Able to think, analyze, consider the broader context to develop
pragmatic solutions Proactive and can work independently Able to force decisions in contentious areas thereby ensuring timely
closure Able to manage relationships and senior stakeholders Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship building skills/
collaborative Strong planning, organizational and project management skills Culturally adoptive Well-developed verbal and written English Excel & ERP proficient will be a plus Full accounting and/or controlling qualification with strong
tax/compliance background
