General Adjuster
Job Duties:
Work closely with Claims Manager and Claims Lead to support General Adjuster’s activities. Participate in Random Claims Quality Checks (RCQC) and conduct re-inspections as necessary to ensure claims compliance and accuracy. Compile and review reports, ensuring that all content is correct, complete, and adheres to submission guidelines. Provide ongoing status reports and updates to clients, FEMA, and other stakeholders, communicating progress and potential issues. Respond to written and verbal inquiries from policyholders, FEMA, WYO carriers, and other stakeholders regarding NFIP coverage. Conduct detailed FEMA and WYO Special Assist claims investigations, preparing comprehensive reports based on findings. Assist in preparing and delivering daily Situation Reports. Work collaboratively with assigned FEMA and OST regional staff, ensuring alignment on claims handling and reporting. Support the Appeals Team by investigating and reporting on disputed claims, providing evidence-based recommendations. Attend and actively participate in weekly staff and project meetings to discuss operational priorities and challenges. Travel to disaster sites as needed to perform on-the-ground inspections and manage the claims process in real-time.
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in NFIP and/or P&C claims adjustment. Possession of a current FCN card. Proven ability to conduct detailed investigations and produce accurate, thorough reports. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex claim information to clients and stakeholders. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams. Strong computer skills, including experience with data entry, claims management systems, and reporting software. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Detail-oriented, with a strong analytical mindset for resolving complex issues and ensuring accuracy. Must be able to obtain EOD high clearance. U.S. citizenship required. Willingness to travel to disaster locations, often with short notice, and work in challenging conditions for extended periods.
Nice to Have:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience). Experience with SharePoint for document management, including forms and lists.
Additional Information:
This role requires the ability to quickly deploy to disaster locations as part of the disaster response team, sometimes in extreme or remote environments. The General Adjuster will play a key role in ensuring the quality of claims handling, participating in peer reviews and quality checks to maintain compliance with NFIP standards. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership abilities and a commitment to excellent client service while working under pressure.This is a full-time position paying a base salary of $65,000, and full benefits, and has possible bonus potential based on merit and performance.
