Summary:

The Virginian-Pilot is seeking a General Assignment Reporter to cover Virginia Beach, with a focus on suburban and rural communities. We're looking for a digitally-savvy storyteller to craft compelling narratives about people, neighborhoods, and underrepresented communities.

What you will do:

Uncover and report on stories relevant to Virginia Beach residents

Develop creative approaches to explore diverse topics and communities

Produce a variety of content, including breaking news, features, and explanatory stories

Create diverse content including photos, videos, tweets, web updates, and in-depth print articles

Collaborate effectively with reporters, photographers, and editors

What you will bring:

Strong news judgment and a collaborative approach

A passion for community-focused storytelling and reporting

Proficiency in various content creation formats

A college degree and at least two years of daily journalism experience (preferred)

A strong understanding of digital media and its role in journalism

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
