Job DescriptionThe General Chemistry Specialist prepares and analyzes environmental samples following ASTM, Standard Methods, and EPA protocols in adherence with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and SOPs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitoring and managing sample backlog workload to meet client program requirementsBatching, analyzing, and reporting samples by various methodologies including UV-VIS, titration, filtration, gravimetric analysis, etc.Data upload and peer review data using the laboratory information management system (LIMS)Data interpretation and evaluation to ensure qualitative, quantitative, program requirements are metPreparation of standards and reagents for sample analysisMaintenance of instrument calibrations in accordance with laboratory QAQC (Quality Assurance and Quality Control) requirements.Evaluation and implementation of new instrumentation and equipment to improve department efficiency and production ratesCorrespondence and coordination with the management team and quality assurance team to ensure implementation initiatives are executed to meet target deadlinesEvaluation of methods and procedures for efficiency and accuracy improvement opportunitiesTroubleshooting of instrumentation, equipment, procedures and methods as neededPerform basic instrument maintenance and repairPerform general housekeeping within the laboratory to maintain an organized and safe working environmentConduct daily duties in an efficient and safe manner, remaining compliant with environmental health and safety and quality assurance programsPerform other laboratory duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum Qualifications
B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry or related field; 5 years of laboratory analytical experience may substitute for a degree.5+ years experience working in a production laboratory setting, preferred.Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorshipAbility and Skills
Strong knowledge of and understanding of methods typically utilized in a production oriented environmental laboratoryEffective time management and multitasking skillsAbility to work independently following written and verbal instructionsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAdditional InformationThe position is full-time, Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. - 8 p.m., with flexibility of overtime and to change shift to meet business needs. Compensation range: $26 - $32 per hour (DOE)
Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes, the actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill set, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
