General Counsel
**Position Overview:** Hidden Level is transforming airspace safety with innovative, scalable drone detection and airspace technology. We provide real-time, actionable data to enhance security across various environments. The preferred location for this role is at our Corporate Headquarters, Syracuse, NY or on the East Coast. **Responsibilities:** + Interpret and apply laws issued by regulatory agencies, advise on compliance requirements, represent the company before regulators, and develop strategies for remaining compliant with regulatory obligations key to avoiding business disruptions. + Lead company's strategies around patents, trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual property. + Advisor to leadership team, participating in strategic risk assessment, leading contracts and export team. + Oversee the IP portfolio and enforcement, provide guidance on IP matters, review contracts and licensing agreements, manage disputes and litigation, and work to protect and extract value from the company's IP assets. + Collaborate with internal stakeholders to monitor emerging standard and regulations, risk management including advisor to senior management. + Manage external counsel relationships. + Perform legal research involving international, federal, state, and local laws to support customer growth by managing the regulatory requirements to develop, deploy and operate Hidden level products. + Use your expertise to help the Business Development, Proposal, and Sales Teams efficiently capture new contracts, grow existing contracts, and ensure timely and uninterrupted performance. + Maintain and refine templates to streamline business processes and business strategy + Ensure process scale with the company alongside compliance team and keep the impact on engineering teams to a minimum. + The judgment and initiative required to own multiple projects from end-to-end, whether guiding Contracts team through IP protection methodology or handling unexpected legal issues that may arise in start-up companies + Quick learner and able to contribute to the broader start-up legal function, including topics that may be completely new to you: everything from IP and litigation to financing, fund raising + Conduct initial legal research as needed to assist in assessing and allocating risk. **What We’re Looking For:** + Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and efficiently. + Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organization + An interest in the law and policy of privacy, Data as a Service, UAV, and spectrum worldwide. + Experience with engineering, software, hardware or other technology **Required Qualifications:** + Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school + Minimum of 10+ years of experience with a Combination of law-firm and in-house/government experience + Comprehensive knowledge of the legal landscape as it pertains to corporate governance, commercial transactions, compliance, and intellectual property + Strong foundation in contract law + Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, providing legal guidance that supports business goals while mitigating risk + Demonstrated leadership skills, exceptional judgement and integrity. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of managing complex legal matters and providing strategic advice to senior management. **Compensation and Benefits:** Hidden Level offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid parental leave, flexible time off, 401(k) with employer contributions, life insurance, and disability insurance. The company also provides a remote or hybrid work environment and potential stock options. **Salary Range** : The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is estimated at $120,000 to $150,000 annually.
