**Job Description:**
**50%** - Follows an established inspection routine in an assigned group of buildings for needed maintenance and repairs to various plumbing steam and building equipment. Repairs and replaces plumbing fixtures, piping, valves, and traps. Diagnoses leaks, stoppages, inadequate supply or faulty operation of steam, water, gas, and air systems, cleans and repairs defective components. Records and communicates work order information digitally.
**40%** - Responds to emergency calls involving loss of utilities or equipment failure, helps repair leaks in steam, condensate, water, or air lines. Repairs are performed as time and expertise permits. May assist other shop staff with more complex repairs.
**5%** - Other Related Work as Assigned: Maintains an adequate supply of tools, parts, and supplies for jobs. Responds to after-hours emergency calls as needed. Assists with other maintenance areas and in other work areas as assigned. Assists with snow removal and surface treatment.

**Required Qualifications:**
1. High school diploma or GED equivalency.
2. One year of experience in a skilled crafts area. Associate degree or vocational school certification may be substituted for required experience.
3. Must have a valid driver’s license by the time of hire and maintain that license throughout employment.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
1. Professional commercial plumbing/Steam experience.
2. Knowledge of the standard practices, tools, equipment, and materials associated with a variety of skilled crafts and building trades.
3. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of skilled crafts and building trades.
4. Experience working in a university, college or multi-building campus environment.
**Position Overview:**
The General Maintenance Repair Tech- Plumbing is responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance and emergency repair tasks to University buildings plumbing and steam systems. This position will participate regular inspections and repair systems utilizing more than one skilled trade.
