General Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

Conducts light custodial services and performs routine maintenance and repairs on YMCA buildings, grounds and equipment.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Performs minor and major repairs of all buildings and equipment.

•Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks; installs window blinds.

•Installs flooring of all types

•Repairs plumbing fixtures including but not limited to toilets, sinks, and urinals.

•Replace and repair receptacles, switches, lighting fixtures and ballasts.

•Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.

•Performs basic carpentry, including but not limited to ceiling tile replacements, plaster and drywall repairs; interior and exterior painting

•Performs light custodial duties and general clean-up of all areas of the building as directed.

•Performs basic grounds maintenance, as needed

•Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.

•Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:


•High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

•Minimum of 2-3 years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.

•Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance related areas.

•Knowledge of basic cleaning protocols and chemicals

•Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy

•Able to prioritize and meet deadlines

•Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

•Ability to write simple correspondence.

•Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening


CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

•CPR and First Aid Certifications required

•Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training

•Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class

•Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols

•Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
