The General Maintenance Worker implements scheduled maintenance projects at all retail locations, Store Support Center, and other company-owned facilities. This is a Field Technician style position that is responsible for conducting quality assessments, performing general carpentry, painting/patching, repair, and operating machinery. The General Maintenance Worker by nature is a jack-of-all-trades, having core competencies in maintenance procedures, basic hydraulic systems, basic tools, and appliances. To ensure successful project completion, the General Maintenance Worker must have exceptional communication and the ability to work interdepartmentally.

 

Based in Mansfield MA and dispatched to all 20 MA Locations

Facilities Dispatch Truck will be used for business travel

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Authorized to work within the U.S.
• Possess a valid MA driver’s license and will be required to submit an annual RMV record
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a general maintenance field worker or related field
• Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
• Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
• Ability to inspect and diagnose problems and determine the best way to correct them.
• Successful completion of pre-employment/promotion drug screen and or criminal background check. (Timeline must fall within Company guidelines.)

 

Responsibilities Work in a style that is Respectful, Supportive, and Team-oriented (RSTO) with the “Golden Rule” in mind.Identify and resolve hazardous situations.Perform general maintenance tasks including but not limited to painting and general carpentry.Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.Call on specifically licensed and trained trades when the project scope warrants it.Install, troubleshoot, and repair machines, displays, or systems using the appropriate tools.Maintain safe working conditions.Maintain inventory of needed parts and products.Work and communicate with multiple trades and vendors.Estimate repair costs.Notify management of potential shrink/security concerns.Prioritize multiple jobs at multiple locations to ensure productivity as well as best results. 

Secondary Job Functions:

Establish long-range objectives and specify strategies and actions to achieve superior preventive maintenance standards.Operate in a professional and fair manner with all customers, trades, associates, and vendors encountered.Operate large vehicles (trucks) within the associate’s legal driving restrictions.Evaluate and compare equipment for purchase regarding use and cost.Order and receive equipment.Other duties as assigned by management. Machines, tools, and equipment utilized:

All department equipment necessary, including but not limited to: computer programs, phones/paging system, approved cleaning supplies, safety knives, u-boat, pallet jack, power tools, and company vehicle.

 

Note: Hand Tools and basic tool bits will be the associate’s responsibility. Roche Bros. will replace an associate provided tool if it breaks from a company-related project. Power tools, project materials, specialty equipment and safety equipment will be provided and property of Roche Bros. Supermarkets Co.

Working Conditions: Working environment is inside and outside with possible exposure to cold and hot temperatures that may be wet and humid.
