The Revelyst Outdoor Performance team is seeking an experienced General Manager of LE/MIL/GOV, an important Revelyst initiative identified as “Project Freedom”, to lead a dynamic, multi-brand merchandising, sales, and business development organization. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading the formation, development, and execution of strategic plans that drive the Revelyst enterprise direct-to-government, law enforcement, and military business. Your understanding of this unique sector, prowess as a business leader, and innovative thinking will ensure our brands stand apart with unique positions, compelling stories, and innovative solutions to meet the needs of this channel. As a key member of the Revelyst Outdoor Performance leadership team, you will join your peers in developing cohesive business plans and strategies, creating and maintaining a vibrant culture of engaged team members, and ensuring the overall success of our business.
As the General Manager, LE/MIL/GOV, you will lead and be responsible for the overall business plan, individual brand strategies, professional user insights work, merchandising strategy, and category management to drive the success and financial performance of the business, including the Project Freedom P&L. Through exceptional leadership, working cross-functionally, you will develop incredible storytelling and product innovation that resonates with the law enforcement, military, and government agency professional user and drives brand awareness and affinity. You act as the principal leader and voice across the organization to champion and inspire the teams to execute the vision and strategy for the Project Freedom initiative.
This position reports to the President and General Manager of Revelyst - Outdoor Performance and is based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
As the General Manager, LE/MIL/GOV (Project Freedom), you will have an opportunity to:
Responsible for overall performance of the initiative, including managerial P&L, omni-channel net sales, product gross profit %, and SKU productivity.
Develop, implement, and deploy seasonal, annual, and long-term brand and product strategies providing the vision and ambition for the brands individually and the initiative as a whole.
Define go-to-market strategies providing guidance on brand positioning, “where to play” choices (customers/agencies, categories, and target user groups), and “how to win” strategies (building blocks, and key initiatives) for success.
Lead business development efforts through a clear understanding of government contracting and procurement processes and procedures as well as agency and professional user paths to market including the solicitation, leverage, or utilization of 3rd party partners, retailers, and distributors.
Monitor and evaluate government bid tenders and RFPs for strategic fit. Identify relevant opportunities, and mobilize the product, business development, and contracting teams accordingly to secure.
Conduct regular landscape assessments including competitor and customer benchmarking, user trends, and internal analysis.
Strategically interpret and align user insights to all aspects of the product creation process.
Develop product vision, timelines, and roadmaps, leads the Idea-to-Consumer Innovation Pathway process, ensuring adherence and discipline to key dates and gates.
Lead merchandising/category management teams to ensure creation and sufficiency of market relevant and target user right merchandising plans and assortments, ensuring product profitability and SKU productivity targets are met.
Collaborate with marketing team to ensure robust plans and initiatives are in place to connect with key professional user groups and to bring concepts and product innovation to life in a compelling and impactful way.
Partner with product design and development engine to ensure product vision is understood and executed according to brief and on time and on cost.
Oversees the unconstrained omni-channel demand planning and forecast, works with the demand/supply planning teams to ensure optimization and performance of inventory/supply.
Optimize revenue and profits within existing categories.
Hire and develop new team members as the business grows.
Provide regular feedback to team members to ensure all are aligned on the vision and strategy set forth.
Develop and manage annual budget to achieve business goals effectively and efficiently.
Partner with peers to create alignment across the organization to achieve business objectives and deliver financial results.
You have:
Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred
Former US Military/Law Enforcement experience encouraged
10+ years of business development, brand management, product/merchandising management, or other similar fields, preferably in the LE/MIL/GOV space.
Knowledge of key processes, procedures and tactics to effectively and profitability grow a primarily direct-to-government business.
Demonstrated success leading teams in the government/law enforcement/military market segment.
Track record of innovative strategic thinking combined with pragmatic, roll-up-the-sleeves execution, and results delivery.
Ability to work across functions and across an executive team to catalyze change in a positive, collaborative, and transparent way.
Demonstrated leadership in recruiting, retaining, and managing a high-performing team.
Acts with a high degree of empowerment, trust, transparency, ownership, and accountability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts and analyses up and down the organization to influence others.
