Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a General Manager, Trade Compliance to join our Energy Legal & Compliance team in Finland.

 

As a GM, Trade Compliance in the Energy Legal & Compliance team, you will handle various types of compliance matters within the Energy Business. Your role focuses on ensuring compliance with trade regulations and export control matters. You will support the Energy Business by providing advice, solutions, information, and intelligence on trade compliance and export control issues during the sales phase, project execution, and other operational matters.

 

In this position, you will be part of a global legal team and report to the Head of Energy Legal Governance in Wärtsilä Energy Business. The preferred location for this position is Helsinki, Finland, but Vaasa and Turku can also be considered. We offer a flexible hybrid working model.


What are your main responsibilities?

 

Provide commercially oriented and solution-based trade compliance advice in all operative business matters Provide solutions-based support to Energy Businesses in all trade compliance and export control-related questions Develop state-of-the-art tools and processes for Energy Business in the trade compliance and export control domain in a global setting Develop and strengthen trade compliance strategy, guidance and practices in Energy Business Ensure trade compliance and governance implementation in the Energy Business and Wärtsilä at large Support trade compliance and governance management in Business and contribute to the development of trade compliance practices, tools and processes at the group level Provide training to Energy Businesses on relevant trade compliance issues

 

What do we expect from you?

 

A relevant university degree A minimum of 5 years work experience in a similar role and with experience from a global setting Excellent understanding of trade compliance and export control in a global setting, coupled with an ability to translate global and future requirements into tangible actions for the Energy Business Work experience in trade compliance and export control, especially trade sanction issues, related challenges and a proven track record of solving them Experience in trade compliance topics related to both sales and supply chain management

Excellent command of English, both written and oral Solid presentation and communication skills Excellent influencing skills and the ability to manage a variety of stakeholder networks Good time management skills and the ability to navigate through different priorities Business-oriented mindset with the ability to provide sound legal solutions with an optimal risk-reward balance You understand how trade compliance solutions and guidance impact the financial results  Team-oriented with a positive and flexible attitude Ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural organisation and virtual teams Readiness to travel
