About the Position The General Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of the scheduling and dispatching center, acting as a bridge between the client, Transdev, and regulatory bodies, while also managing internal resources and partners effectively. Serving as the primary point of contact for the client regarding the scheduling center contract and being available at all times to make decisions or provide coordination.Ensuring that the service is operated according to the plans, policies, and budgets established by the client (presumably a transit agency or authority), Transdev (the company), as well as all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.Managing and overseeing the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) partners involved in the operation.Overseeing the overall operations of the centralized scheduling and dispatching center, including staff management, resource allocation, and ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.Maintaining close communication and collaboration with the client to ensure their requirements and expectations are met, and addressing any issues or concerns promptly.Monitoring performance metrics, analyzing data, and implementing improvements or changes as necessary to optimize operations and meet contractual obligations. Education, Licensing, and Certifications (preferred) and Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or related field preferred. 5+ years of management and supervisory experience specifically in public fixed-route transportation and paratransit operationsExperience in labor relations and working with unions.Knowledge of relevant employment laws at federal and state levelsCore Competencies: Thorough understanding of transit operations, regulations, laws and ordinances governing the industryExpertise in managing operations across multiple locations, cost control and financial/budgetingStrong communication skills (written, oral, presentations) to effectively influence at all levelsAbility to organize work, attention to detail, efficiencyMust be skilled in labor negotiations, grievance handlingProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to manage relationships with government entitiesUp to 25% travel required between properties, meetings, trainingThe role requires a seasoned transit operations professional with proven management experience in union environments. Strong financial acumen, communication abilities and knowledge of legal/regulatory landscape are critical. The ability to navigate labor relations while optimizing multi-site operations and budgets appears key. Physical Requirements: Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed. 90% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities. Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer. The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
