General Manager

Job Description:

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for driving profitability for one RaceTrac store and leading up to 45 employees. You will continually deliver on RaceTrac’s mission of making people’s lives simpler and more enjoyable through a focus on friendly service, food execution, cleanliness, building talent, and driving success.

Responsibilities:

Friendly

Establish an environment of prompt, efficient, and courteous service and effectively engage in conflict managementLead and direct positive and professional relationships with co-workers, direct reports, guests, and vendorsCommunicate respectfully and maintain a consistent team-oriented attitude and store cultureManage and mitigate any reported guest concerns on designated shifts with a sense of urgency and involve appropriate regional team members as neededEfficiently complete guest transactions at the cash register or self-checkout stations and suggest products that complement purchases

Food

Drive excellence in food service by executing designed processes, implementing goals to increase sales and margin, ensuring product quality, and using training resourcesEnsure all food offers are available; ensure preparation areas and equipment are clean and properly maintained

Clean

Encourage and manage a high standard of store cleanlinessDirect, monitor, and adhere to all RaceTrac, federal, state, and local safety-related regulations, including food safety regulationsExecute shift duties, maintain overall presentation standards, and represent the RaceTrac brand

Driving Success

Strategically direct control of inventory and the distribution of materials, merchandise, and suppliesReview financial statements, sales, analysis reports, and other performance data to measure productivityActively identify areas of operational improvements based on market trendsDevelop and maintain a relationship with vendors to ensure efficient and correct deliveriesEnsure communication is passed to every team member in the storeUse company provided tools to coach, mentor and develop a high performing store teamEnsure all risk management issues are in compliance with company standardsCreate or approve Management and Associate schedules to ensure proper staffing levels for expected sale volumes, while taking team member availability, payroll, and overtime costs into considerationOwn staffing in store by providing timely feedback on interviews to the recruiting teamEngage in the hiring of all store associates; develops managers to understand RaceTrac hiring processes and participate in hiring decisionsWrite, implement, and monitor manager development and performance plansEnsure proper procedures are followed in regards to hiring, promotions and separationsEnsure all team members follow policies and company standards at all timesEnsures that all team members have correct valid licenses as required by state or local lawsHave complete understanding of budget and cost trends that impact operations; proactively work to drive sales and overall financial health of the store

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED in progress or completed5+ years of prior food service, retail, or restaurant supervisory experience; retail management experience preferredPrevious experience working in high-volume, guest-focused, transactional environment preferredKnowledge and skills in analyzing overall financial performance of the store including profit and loss statementsHigh School Diploma or GED completion or (actively working on it) requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteProven knowledge of Labor Laws and staffing best practicesCan lift up to 50 pounds and repeatedly bend, stand, and reach while on the jobMust obtain and maintain Manager Food Handler certificationMay be required to obtain and maintain alcohol server permit, based on local or state requirements
