 As General Manager you will have full responsibility for the performance and profitability of the plant facility. This includes managing and focusing on measures associated with safety, quality, cost and productivity and focusing on strategic expansion by increasing local and regional sales.
 

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Maintain the plant’s profitability and ensure all safety and quality requirements are metDevelop and implement business plans that align with company goals and overall strategic vision  Build a high performing team and work collaboratively to drive change initiatives within the organizationDrive and implement continuous improvement initiatives tied to the strategic business directionBuild partnerships with your Corporate Sales Managers to identify Business Unit growth opportunities and maintain relationships with key accounts  Oversee sales and production to meet short-term and long-term divisional objectives to achieve optimum efficiencyBe a great leader and motivator, creating an engaged and very satisfied workforce and loyal customersLead P&L development including annual budgeting, forecasting, financial summaries, and variance reporting/planningCollaborate with the Sales Manager on strategic Business Unit growth opportunitiesEnsure awareness/compliance to all corporate, provincial and federal health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures and regulationsDrive improved earnings, volume and lower costs through safety, quality, compliance, maintenance, and protection of Smurfit Westrock assetsBuild effective relationships with all departments in plant to produce strong customer relationships, employee relations and a superior product.Maintain Smurfit Westrock assets, including building, land, equipment, and other company assetsCreate and deliver an effective vision of the future to maximize company performance.  Communicate that vision in a way that effectively inspires others. Successfully translate vision into concrete strategic action.Build effective alliances with other Business Units, Sales, Logistics, Production, Safety and Quality Managers to better serve customers that cross multiple business units

 

What you need to succeed:

Bachelor’s Degree preferredBring 7-10 years of progressive management experience in the industry, along with proven experience in budget and financial managementMust have a minimum 7 years of Manufacturing/Operations experienceHave a proven track record of goal-setting and achievement and demonstrated ability to build, lead, and motivate diverse teamsAbility to initiate projects in pursuit of greater profitability, anticipate potential problems and address them earlyAbility to facilitate the development of others’ knowledge and skillsDemonstrated knowledge of capital management (P&L and capital budgets) and analyzing financial data Must possess excellent strategic planning and analytical skills Ability to operate with the customers’ best interest in mind Ability to respond quickly to changing demands, processes and updated information Communicate effectively with the ability to adjust communication style based on audience
