What you’ll Do

As the General Manager of Hemmant Campus, you will lead all operations strategically, safely, operationally, and financially. Manage with a Best Practice perspective that supports Americold’s Company Values. This role has full operational accountability and is responsible for driving the achievement of financial goals whilst ensuring alignment with the Americold Company values. 

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

P&L management and ongoing evaluation of customer and profitability. Provide strong, visible, and consistent leadership in accordance with company goals and objectives.  Develop and maintain appropriate relationships with all customers (external/internal) to facilitate the successful accomplishment of company objectives.  Demonstrate leadership in operational excellence regarding best practices, compliance, safety, budgeting, and planning, selecting, training, and evaluating associates.  Communicate regularly with operations teams to ensure they are informed on all important company matters and directives.  Drive Associate Engagement initiatives, focusing on consistent, authentic interactions that build trust. Partner with cross-functional teams on Continuous Improvement efforts to drive process and productivity/profitability gains. Maintain and develop proficiency in the use of CI tools and methods.  Evaluate operational opportunities, develop action plans with measurable milestones and clear accountabilities, and ensure goals and targets are achieved.  Review Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and utilise other measurement tools daily/weekly to ensure consistency in operational, financial, employee, and service controls. Develop training plans to maximise talents and skill areas, turn weaknesses into strengths, and provide positive feedback to associates.  Promote a safe work environment and support a “Safety Awareness” culture. Ensure compliance with all safety and loss prevention policies and that all related matters are resolved with the Safety Team. Ensure management of associates is in accordance with best practices, company guidelines, and policies. Partner with Human Resources to ensure fit-for-purpose workforce planning and labour strategies are in place. 

What Experience and Education You Need

Previous experience in leading large, diverse warehouse, transport and distribution teams. Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally 6-10 years’ experience Logistics Management (Retail Preferred). Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques, Demonstrated problem-solving skills and analytical skills, Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons, Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies would be highly advantageous

Physical Requirements 

Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, or bending Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks May require travel by automobile and aeroplane for business May require visits to warehouse operations in temperatures at or below freezing May require carrying loads related to travel and the occasional lifting, carrying, positioning, and/or moving of objects
