We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager of People & Culture - Corporate to be a trusted advisor and lead strategic people initiatives as part of a cultural and strategic transformation. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the People & Culture strategy and initiatives as well as support the broader business transformation initiatives across Downer’s Group functions. You will play a pivotal role in shaping a compelling vision for people and culture, optimising workforce capabilities, and developing and executing robust People & Culture plans to support both current and future business goals. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, you will lead a dedicated team of P&C professionals to deliver change initiatives and to provide high quality advice, coaching and support that enhances organisational capability and supports business success.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Strategically partner and collaborate with Group Executives and other Group Functional Leads across the organisation to develop and implement comprehensive People & Culture plans. Align people strategies with organisational objectives, focusing on talent attraction, onboarding, development, retention, organisational change, and building capabilities across the business. Ensure timely and consistent delivery of compliant and cost-effective P&C business partnering, HR/IR/ER advisory and recruitment to Group office functions. Oversee strategic recruitment efforts and provide expert HR advice, ensuring that people practices and frameworks are well-understood and effectively integrated into the business. Provide thought leadership, coaching and support to leaders to ensure the effective execution of people related activities. Promote initiatives that embed our unique organisational culture and enhance employee engagement. Lead people transformation initiatives as the subject matter expert for functional People & Culture activities, working closely with business leaders to effectively prioritise and execute initiatives effectively. Manage the Group People & Culture team, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration across Downer teams. Collaborate with the wider People & Culture leadership team across the organisation to ensure overall success and alignment with business goals.What You’ll Bring:
We are looking for a General Manager of People and Culture with a proven ability to create a compelling vision for People & Culture, develop clear strategies, and implement plans to achieve ambitious goals. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and authentic leader, skilled in inspiring and influencing others to embrace the vision, and possess the following skills and experience:
Tertiary Qualification in HR, Business Management, or a related discipline. Extensive experience (10+ years) human resources experience preferably from a large complex organisation, servicing multiple lines of business or functions. Demonstrated experience leading HR business partnering and providing HR generalist services to executive level leaders and supporting the business through change in a multifaceted people environment. Experience working at a senior leadership level, both internally and with customers. Strong ER background with the ability to confidently support the business with organisational design and transformation activities. Proven experience in successfully leading, coaching and managing a People and Culture team within a Business Partnering model, with a focus on building strong relationships with internal stakeholders.Why You’ll Love Working With Us:
