Responsibilities:

This is an entry-level position into the production area, but successful candidates are expected to show initiative and self-motivation to improve their skill set and upgrade to positions of more complexity and responsibility, such as assistant stenter operator and slitting operator.

 

This is an onsite, in-person position located at: Mylar Specialty Films 5401 Route 1, Richmond, VA 23234 

 

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Obtain all materials necessary for the area to operate smoothly (packing supplies, stores items, etc.)Provide overall assistance in slitting, stenter, and recovery areas; feeding cutters with cut-offs, splits, wrap rolls in slitting, pack DHO rolls, doff slit rolls, operate hoists, etc.Safely transport reclaim and finished goodsPerform roll changes as well as general help during pack and die changesEnsure proper film types, gauges and treated side when making roll tickets/labelsVisually inspect rolls (mill roll, DHO, and slit) for surface defectsContribute to the team effort - attendance, punctuality, dependability, and teamwork are paramount, as is contribution to meeting business metrics flexible to float to where and when necessary.

The following are required:

High School diploma or GED equivalentValid driver's licenseWilling and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) - steel toes, hardhat, Nomex, protective eyewear, face shields, arc protective clothing, and respirator or SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus)Willing and able to work a rotating shift schedule that includes regular midnight and weekend shiftsWilling and able to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and on short notice call in as requiredWilling and able to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 50lbsExperience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and learning new computer software systems

The following are preferred:

Associate degree in a Science - or Process Technology - related fieldVocational Certificate or Technical Trade Certificate Minimum of 6 months manufacturing facility experienceExperience in a maintenance-related fieldExperience in the Polyester Film production processesExperience with SAP or equivalent Manufacturing Operations softwareMT1 certificationExperience operating powered industrial vehicles (I.E. fork trucks, pallet trucks, tow devices, etc.)

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, Rotating 8-hour shifts

Each week is a different shift:

8:00am - 4:00pm4:00pm - 12:00am12:00am - 8:00am

Some weekend overtime may be required, depending on business needs.
