**Job Title: General Production Worker** **Job Description** Join a world-renowned vegetable tannery, specializing in producing durable, exquisite leathers through a natural, eco-friendly process. Founded in 1867, we pride ourselves on our rich heritage and commitment to quality. We are seeking three 1st shift general production workers to join our team. Candidates will work in various parts of the facility, becoming comfortable performing every step of the production process and filling in where necessary. **Responsibilities** + Support various stages of the vegetable tanning process, ensuring high-quality leather production. This may involve working with wet cow hides coming out of both the initial sanitizing process and tanning process. The hides are heavy, and candidates may need to ask for help from time to time. Protective gear such as hooded coats, goggles, and gloves will be provided. + Safely and efficiently assist the operators of production machinery and equipment by maintaining available stocks of materials. + Inspect leather products for defects and ensure they meet company standards. + Load and unload raw materials and finished products. + Keep the work area clean and organized, adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines. **Essential Skills** + Previous production/manufacturing experience + Comfortable with physically demanding work and standing for the entirety of the shift + Strong reliability in previous roles **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Flexibility + Forklift operation (potential training provided after initial months) + Steel-toed shoes are required **Why Work Here?** We offer flexibility when it comes to time off. While employees do not have traditional PTO, the facility will close for 2-3 weeks every summer around July 4th, and employees will be paid for these weeks as a form of bulk PTO. Additionally, there is flexibility to take off other days throughout the year. **Work Environment** There is a strong smell throughout the facility, with strong chemical smells when working with wet hides and a strong leather-like smell in other areas. The environment can be dirty or loud at times. It is not climate controlled, so candidates will need to be okay with it being slightly chillier in the winter and warmer in the summer. The work schedule is from 6am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Curwensville, Pennsylvania. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $15.25 - $15.25/hr.
