GENERAL SERVICES IT MANAGER - DATA MANAGEMENT
Summary We are seeking a Data Management IT Manager to lead and develop our Data Engineering, Data Integration, and Business Intelligence functions. This role will drive data strategies and solutions that enable our business units to harness data insights, improve data accessibility, and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in data management, is well-versed in modern data engineering tools and practices, and has proven experience in building data integration frameworks and business intelligence solutions. This position manages several AutoZoners as leaders and individual contributors in AutoZone. Works closely with business partners and stakeholders to ensure that new applications meet the practical needs of the company and with support teams to ensure operational stability. You will investigate non-standard requests and problems, make presentations to senior leadership, ensure project documentation is accurate, and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope. Guarantee KPIs are being met and created as required by upper management to build a true center of excellence. Planned and executed training sessions to keep the team updated and created team KPIs that helped the business measure development and understand workloads. Be responsible for delivering desired, sustainable business outcomes and ensuring the integrity and continuity of our diverse reporting environments, from defining requirements to roll-out. Validate that work is performed accurately, analyze errors, and resolve problems. You will need to be comfortable multitasking and effective at organizing work assignments. You must work on approvals and maintain the staffing budget for each fiscal year. Responsibilities Build relationships with key business partners and stakeholders to identify organizational decisions that could affect your team’s operation and prepare for such changes. Manages system development and support activities to meet business needs in a timely and cost-effective manner while ensuring the right things get done as per the governance process. Manages and tracks the progress of multiple projects. Performs project and product management and administration that includes work plans, resource planning and control, writing status reports, and preparing annual budgets. Communicates status of activities with teams, peers, management, and business partners. Selects, develops, and motivates assigned staff. Develop the team and attract top talent, work with individual direct reports to create a development plan, and set objectives for the short- and long-term success of the team members. Be proficient in cloud technologies, namely GCP, and understand the data products and services available to help with Cloud migration activities and initiatives. Partner with other Data Management Managers to deliver on key business objectives and priorities. This position has 8 to 12 direct reports Requirements Level of formal education: A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent. Area of study: Computer Science or related field preferred Years of experience: +7 years Type of experience: Team and data management Special certifications or technical skills: o Expert proficiency with the AutoZone software architecture, methodology, governance, and roll-out/implementation process. o People leadership/supervisory skills. o Data Management leadership experience in (Data Engineering, Data Integration, Business intelligence, Architecture) o Technical skills may include experience with one or more operating systems, programming languages, database management systems, and/or networking. o Cloud technical skills with tools such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Dataproc for data processing and analysis, GIT, and Terraform, proficient in data modeling, and data software support. Preferably in GCP. o Experience with analytics platforms such as Alation, Alteryx, Looker, Statistical Analysis Software (SAS), Talend, and WebFOCUS software and systems. Google Big Query experience is preferred. o Problem-solving and analytical skills. o Presentation, facilitation, and writing skills. o Project management – estimating, planning, controlling, and execution. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or other collaboration suites. Manage and lead a team of IT AutoZoners that includes assigning/monitoring work, providing feedback, coaching, counseling, and salary administration. Talend experience is preferred. o Ensure seamless integration of new data sources and systems, aligning with enterprise data standards. o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify integration needs and develop solutions that enable data sharing and interoperability. · Business Intelligence and Analytics o Oversee the development of business intelligence tools and dashboards to provide meaningful insights for business units. o Enable self-service analytics capabilities by establishing accessible data models and visualization tools. o Work with analysts and stakeholders to refine reporting requirements and translate them into actionable BI solutions. · Team Leadership and Development o Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers, integration specialists, and BI developers. o Promote a collaborative and innovative team culture, supporting continuous learning and skill development. o Manage project timelines, resources, and priorities, ensuring timely delivery of data management solutions.
