Job Title – General Superintendent
Salary- Open to negotiate BOE
Location: Corporate Office Location -Harrisburg, PA
***Travel-This would require travel about 80% of the time (will have company vehicle and gas card so no wear and tear on own personal vehicle). Could be traveling to multiple sites in one day.
Shift: 7am-5pm Monday-Friday times could vary on job site.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for all day-to-day field operations by monitoring and administering, all construction projects from construction start through customer delivery. The duties of this job require a high degree of specialized expertise and skill in construction means and methods, scheduling, and maintaining established standards of quality, accuracy, and excellence. Drive, determination, and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet these established criteria are necessary for successful job performance
Qualifications Minimum of 20 years combined experience with construction and construction management. Must have proven ability to schedule projects/personnel. Working experience with all phases of Site Work, Commercial and Residential construction. Ability to work closely with customers, construction personnel, personnel in other work groups, contractors, suppliers, and other team members. Experience in Design-Build and Value Engineering management is preferred. Highly Proficient in computerized systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Smartsheet, Outlook, and mobile devices. Must have a solid command of construction fundamentals and OSHA requirements. Ability to work from drawings and blueprints. Ability to produce and maintain reports. Ability to meet schedules within determined deadlines. Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance. Physical Requirements Frequently lifts/moves up to 40 lbs., walks, sits, stands, climbs stairs, reaches with hands/arms, balances, and stoops. Occasionally climbs ladders, walks on roofs, and enters trenches. Must be able to: Make continuous process improvements. Master basic math calculations. Think logically about following complex instructions and carrying out procedures. Work in inclement weather conditions. Work under stress, with interruptions and deadlines, while maintaining accuracy. Process verbal information to input into a computer system. Converse in a calm and friendly manner and communicate via phone, email, text, and in-person. Handle and/or initiate change.
Operations Responsible for all on-site construction activities: Assigns Construction Superintendents and other essential personnel to specific projects. Ensures the appropriate inspections occur and projects are ready for scheduled inspections. Establishes construction priorities to achieve all deliverables on time for each project. D Ensures appropriate labor, materials, and equipment are on each respective site. E Enforces all safety programs, rules, and procedures. Is a member of the corporate safety team. Ensures toolbox talks and safety stand-downs are completed. Identifies, schedules, and monitors training for field personnel (safety and job specific). Resolves field changes expeditiously by working with municipal staff, design team, and project managers in a respectful and confident manner. Responsible for construction coordination and administration: Ensures start packages are prepared, completed, and coordinated for issuance to superintendents. Conducts project start meeting with superintendents. Ensures pre-construction meetings with inspectors and municipal staff are completed prior to start of construction. Ensures schedule updates and variances are completed in the current software and relayed to the project manager or customer. Ensures specifications, manuals, guidelines, and other “standards” are current and known to staff. Issues purchase orders, change orders, and budget revisions via established software and in coordination with project managers. Reviews and approves invoices in a timely and thorough manner. Responsible for construction fleet and equipment management: Ensures construction vehicles are clean, serviceable, and in good working order. Ensures monthly fleet checks are completed and routine maintenance is scheduled. Ensures company tools are in good working order, easily identified, and employees are trained in their operation. Customer Service Responsible for maintaining customer confidence. Coordinates with multiple departments to determine exact work requirements. Addresses customer concerns timely and professionally. Implements changes when necessary and makes sure all involved parties are aware of changes to costs and schedule. Employee Relations Responsible for CST field employees, hiring, terminations, and training. Ensures all reviews are completed on time and reviewed for consistency. Provides on-the-job training where necessary. Monitors qualification sheets to ensure they are completed, signed off and submitted to HR. Approves the use of overtime. Verifies that all overtime work is necessary to complete workload. Monitors the amount of overtime used. Monitors PTO schedules to ensure the workforce is capable of meeting production schedules. Must check and approve all time sheets and PTO requests. Participates in employee recognition, appreciation, and calendar events. Addresses employee concerns timely and thoroughly. Additional Responsibilities Attends weekly production meetings. Oversees Quality Partner program on assigned projects. Continuously evaluates the contractor/supplier base. Completes appropriate Continuous Improvement Action Plans.
