General Supply Specialist
Summary You will serve as a General Supply Specialist in the Supply Management Department, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Management Branch of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE. This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585. Responsibilities You will properly stow all hazardous materials. You will serve as the point of contact for all hazardous material (HM) processes regarding cataloging, receiving, ordering, labeling, storing, monitoring, issuing, inspecting, delivery, and disposal of hazardous materials. You will provide assistance in implementing Navy/command policy on ordering and issuing procedures for hazardous material. You will provide assistance/coordination is overseeing the supply and material management practices in order to minimize disposal of excessive hazardous material. You will record results and send reports to higher authority. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying knowledge of various supply regulations, policies, procedures and/or instructions relating to the operation of hazardous material, inventory management and/or issue and receipt processing to provide services for hazardous management and operational support. Examples of specialized experience include some or all of the following; 1) Conducting physical inventory of hazardous materials, recording findings and making inventory adjustments if necessary; 2) Disposing of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with federal, state and local laws and regulations; 3) Providing procedural guidance to supply and material management personnel involved in the receipt, issue, storage, delivery, accounting, reutilization and/or disposal of hazardous material; 4) Reviewing procedures and analyzing reports of data to ascertain problems in accuracy, adequacy, adherence to procedures, etc.; 5) Cataloging, receiving, ordering, labeling, storing, monitoring, issuing, inspecting, shelf-life management, delivery and/or disposal of hazardous material via an automated supply program. Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.
