Generative AI for Education Hub Senior Research Data Analyst, SCALE Initiative

About Us:

The SCALE initiative of the Stanford Accelerator for Learning, housed at Stanford Graduate School of Education is seeking a Senior Research Data Analyst to work in the Generative AI for Education Hub. The SCALE initiative works to equalize and improve educational opportunities for students by supporting implementation of the most promising educational practices. One such project is the recently started GenAI for Education Hub aiming to be the trusted source for education leaders on generative AI for what works to benefit student learning at scale. This position will provide data management support for the research projects within the GenAI for Education Hub.  

This position is a 1-year fixed term appointment based on Stanford University’s main campus.  Consideration will be given to a hybrid work schedule (partially onsite and offsite work), subject to operational need. What You’ll Do:

The Senior Research Data Analyst works closely with both the Faculty Lead and Director of the Hub. This role will bring technical skill to clean, organize, and analyze data sets, as well as to source data from across the internet. The Senior Research Data Analyst must have a demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.


Core duties will include:

Assemble large, complex sets of data that meet research functions and cross-functional team requirements. Create charts and databases, perform statistical analyses, and develop graphs and tables for publication and presentation. Extract, transform, and load data from various data sources using Google Cloud, Python and SQL technologies for relational database management systems. Working with research leads to support data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues. Serve as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistical analyses or surveys. Other duties as assigned including but not limited to managing projects, coordinating with outside partners, and contributing to resources.

What You’ll Bring: 

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Substantial experience with MS Office and analytical programs. Excellent writing and analytical skills. Ability to prioritize workload.

Desired Qualifications:

Five years of relevant experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering. Excellent analytic skills associated with working on unstructured datasets. Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision. Relevant subject matter knowledge. Ability to build, implement, and troubleshoot processes to optimize data transformation, management, data structures, and metadata. Experience working in social science research, including leveraging data for policy and for producing academic research. Demonstrated understanding and experience using software and tools such as all g-suite, Google workspace, Google Cloud, coding platforms (STATA, R, Python, etc.), GitHub, Globus, Confluence.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

Frequently sit, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation and perform desk-based computer tasks, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing up to ten pounds.Occasionally stand, walk, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, write by hand and sort and file paperwork or parts. Rarely lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing 11-20 pounds.

The expected pay range for this position is $104,358,-125,000 per annum.
